What it is
ShinyWidgets is a turn-based card game about building an engine — a tableau of cards that feed on each other so every turn does more than the last. If you enjoy tabletop engine-builders like Wingspan, Gizmos, or Terraforming Mars, you'll feel right at home.
On your turn you take a few colored resource tokens, then spend them on cards from a shared market. Here's the twist that makes it an engine: every card you own gives a permanent discount in its color, so each new card of that color costs less — forever. Can't afford the card you want yet? Reserve it to hold it and pick up a wild gold token. As your tableau grows, cards start paying for themselves and you chain purchases you couldn't dream of on turn one.
Cards aren't only discounts — they're points, and they open bigger scoring paths: claim achievements, connect a structure, or complete a garden, depending on the theme. A built-in hint lights up what you can afford right now, shows the discounted price you'd actually pay, and flags the cards that advance a bonus you've already started. The first player to the target score triggers a final round; when it evens out, the most points wins.
